The wind farms They began to appear around the world about 20 years ago. Huge white structures with gigantic blades are responsible for taking advantage of the wind to generate electric power.
This generation process is truly friendly to the environment, since it produces clean energy without the consumption of non-renewable resources. In this way, the method began to become popular, because it also reduces the cost of electrical service in the regions where this mechanism works.
And although this means an important advance in the fight against pollution, it does not mean that everything has been said. The 88-year-old retiree proves it by building his own wind turbine, which he seamlessly installed on his own balcony.
A review of He Spanish indicates that the author of this invention is the retired Robert Cassegrain, a French citizen residing in Le Perreux-sur-Marne, in Val-de-Marne (France).
The generator he made is so innovative that it won second place in the renowned Lépine 2023 contest, which rewards inventors from the French country.
The highlight of Robert’s achievement is that he eliminates the mast from the structure, really necessary since the higher the height, the greater the use of the wind. His mechanism, which goes on a balcony, consists of simple metal pieces with which he manages to capture the gusts of air at any elevation, no matter how small.
“I have one of those billboards that blows in the wind, and as I passed it near a table, I noticed that it was picking up speed,” said Robert Cassegrain.
“With a deflector, you can direct the wind towards the rotor of the wind turbine. With this invention there is no need for a mast. So you can, for example, install it on the balcony of a flat”, added the 88-year-old inventor.
For the contest, he manufactured a scale model for demonstration purposes. Thanks to a fan, he turned the turbine blade at 20 revolutions per minute, but when he climbed up the metal plate used as a deflector, the speed increased three times.
Now, after winning the contest, Robert Cassegrain wants to mass-produce it to industrialize it and later commercialize it.
